UNC-BYU final thoughts

A solid win for us, as we pulled away late to win 73-63, and to win the Las Vegas Invitation title. Ty Lawson did not return from his ankle roll. (And there still is no word on the media front as of noon Sunday.) Some final thoughts:

-After a game in which we torched the nets (ODU), we showed that we don’t need the three. In fact, we were dismal from beyond the arc. But that’s where our diverse offensive attack showed its colors. They shot lights out (at least in the first half). We were 2-10.

-Our defense was HUGE, especialy down the stretch. Danny Green was a stud, as was Marcus Ginyard. The “G Men” as Dick Vitale will, no doubt, shout all year.

-FINALLY, we got some play from Deon Thompson and that No. 4 spot. Even Stepheson looked good in the back-up role. Man, he can rebound. I just wish he could shoot a little better.

-Wayne Ellington, Green and Ginyard continued to look solid. They’re the best guard/forward trio in the country, for sure. Ellington, in particular, has been so impressive in how he’s improved his game from last year.

-BYU is good. Don’t sleep on those guys. They’ll be back come March.

Let’s wait for a final word on Ty – I like that we rested him and were still able to win – but that’s a pretty solid tournament-style win before we go Ohio State-Kentucky back-to-back.

Your all’s thoughts? Also, what are your all’s game day traditions? (This is something i like to discuss with all my fan friends since I’m so superstitious). I always wear the same shirt, a long-sleeve Carolina Blue J. Crew shirt. When I was younger, the routine was much, much more specific. I’d love to hear some of your all’s routines.
